2018 AFL-CIO Community Services School!

Brothers & Sisters:

We're excited to officially invite you to the 2018 AFL-CIO Community Services School held May 14 - 18 at the Walter and Mae Reuther UAW Family Education Center in Onaway, MI.

This week-long education program provides a premier education opportunity for union members across Michigan and the country. This year's engaging and interactive program includes:

  • the return of The Poverty Simulator;
  • conversation with the Building Trades, including an interactive walk-through of training trailers;
  • learning about innovative labor and community partnerships with local United Ways.

But that's not all!

In addition to a world-class education opportunity, this week provides students with an opportunity to participate in activities that cultivate community with their union brothers and sisters. Join us as we:

  • pack over 10,000 meals for the Onaway Food Pantry through the Outreach food program;
  • raise funds for scholarships to future Community Service education programs through activities like our signature silent auction and the inaugural Community Services Golf Outing at Black Lake;
  • create friendships and memories through a range of post-classroom activities
